Collaboration engages individual students in the community and world they share through a conscious decision to connect with others.
When introduced to students, collaboration includes partnership and teamwork of individuals with different skills and tasks but the same goal. It includes roles of leadership (directing and guiding), support (providing time, place, and materials), and being an active participant who works in accord with the efforts of others.
As students grow and mature, collaboration also includes skills in negotiation between two or more independent people or groups to form an alliance that serves to benefit all parties.
The sensitivity towards and empathy with others enable students to connect to others through communication.
